In Process

Some of our projects have long phases of permitting, others are simply waiting for Mother Nature to grace us with perfect lighting while just the right plants are in bloom. Check in here for news, plan renderings, and sketches of sites in various stages of development.

STOUGHTON RECREATION DEPARTMENT PLAYGROUND This may seem familiar if you’ve been following us for a while. We’re BACK in Stoughton, designing a second town owned playground! Happily, we learned valuable lessons on the CAPP at Halloran Park, and have a great team with the Town of Stoughton. Town Meeting voted to approve the CPC funding, and contractor bids are due June 5th. If all goes well, demolition of the existing playground can begin in the new fiscal year. The playground even gets its own RBLA email blast campaign. Check it out and sign up for future updates.

NEIGHBORHOOD SERENITY GARDEN

-- UPDATE AUGUST 2018 -- Through a series of community meetings, RBLA Design LLC has been working to balance the needs and interests of the Mattapan Community, City of Boston's Department of Neighborhood Development (DND) and Parks Department with the developers of the adjacent multifamily residential proposal. Today's concept includes serpentine walks through a shady grove of trees or a sunny butterfly-attracting garden, all with access to community space off the planned multifamily residential building.

SITE FEASIBILITY STUDIES We work with clients to study development potential of their sites, using GIS data available from the State and municipalities. We are able to take an holistic approach to site master planning and to map potential constraints and permitting needs at the initiation of a project or prior to purchase. These GIS capabilities also allow us to do broad studies within municipalities for site selection purposes. Working with development teams, we are able to prepare feasibility studies allowing developers to determine potential site yields, assist municipalities in the study of flexible or “cluster” zoning, and explore site plan options beyond the standard subdivision requirements. Our site constraints and opportunities plans and plan renderings are often used for early meetings with landowners, municipal agencies, project abutters, public hearings, and as marketing tools once the project is successfully permitted.

INDUSTRIAL CONVERSION We recently submitted construction documents, but the sketch graphics are much more fun! We're working with The Architectural Team (TAT) on this conversion of a great mill building in Attleboro, MA into senior living apartments and adult day care.

RETAIL THERAPY We're branching out a bit, looking at public open space in a retail center adjacent to one of our multifamily projects. This will be a great addition to the mixed-use community. Many thanks to our repeat residential client who recommended us to the retail developer!

LEE'S FARMSTAND When we designed this assisted living in Wayland a few years ago, we didn't know we'd also get to help plan the re-use of the existing farmstand at the front of the property!
